Perham’s Music Showdown Rules

  1. Prizes include $5,000 for the overall winner, $2,000 for the runner-up, $1,000 for third place, and $500 for a people’s choice winner.
  2. All participants must be 18 years or older at time of application.
  3. All cost related to travel, food, accommodations, etc. are the responsibility of the artists and performers.  If selected as a finalist, Friends of the Perham Auditorium and Perham Rotary will provide $250 to assist with costs.
  4. Auditions will be conducted virtually.  Contestants must complete the online application and submit a link to a YouTube video with an audition performance.  Audition video must be limited to two songs or 8 minutes, whichever is less.  All application videos must be unedited and state the name of the group and that it is an audition for Amplify! Perham’s Music Showdown in the video.  Video must be an exact representation of your final act (songs can vary).
  5. Applications are due by no later than 11:59pm on July 12, 2024.
  6. All live competitors will be judged on a rubric.  Auditions will be reviewed by an unbiased panel of judges and a group of 10 finalists will be chosen for the final competition on September 14, 2024.  The final competition will be judged by an unbiased panel of judges. Final competition judges will have no connection to the Perham community, Friends of the Perham Auditorium, or the Perham Rotary.
  7. Only one audition per contestant.  Multiple submissions will not be considered.  Participants may only perform with ONE group.  Any participant who performs in more than one group will disqualify both acts.  
  8. Judges’ comments will not be disclosed.  Judges’ decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
  9. Applicants will be notified by July 15, 2024 if they have been selected to participate in the final competition. Alternates will also be selected.
  10. No lip-syncing, singing along with lead track vocals, or post-production engineering of lead vocals permitted.
  11. Lyrics must not contain any profanity, vulgarity, and/or political allusions.
  12. For the final competition, Friends of the Perham Auditorium will provide a grand piano, a 5-piece drum set with cymbals, and a professional PA system with stage monitors, bass guitar amplifiers, and guitar amplifiers. Any other instruments must be provided by the competitors.
  13. Friends of the Perham Auditorium reserves the right to update or change official rules, dates, plans, etc. at any time with a 5-day notice to competitors.
